Warakapola Pradeshiya Sabha established under the Pradeshiya Sabha Act No. 15 of 1987 is the largest Pradeshiya Sabha in the Kegalle District. In the past the Dedigama area was divided into three parts as Local Government Institutions. These are Warakapola Minor Urban Council, Dedigama Village Council and Tholangamuwa Othara Pattu Village Council. Village councils, small town councils and Pradeshiya Sabhas were established in 1991.
The inaugural session of the Warakapola Pradeshiya Sabha commenced on July 01, 1991 at the Town Hall. This is the sixth session of the 43-member House of Representatives, including the Chairman. The office of the Pradeshiya Sabha was brought to the existing building with modern facilities on 26.10.2020.

N. Sarath Sumanasuriya, the current Chairman of the Warakapola Pradeshiya Sabha is the first Chairman of the Sri Lanka People's Front and the seventh Chairman of the Warakapola Pradeshiya Sabha. When he assumed the chairmanship, he increased the revenue streams of the Warakapola Pradeshiya Sabha by creating more revenue streams than the existing ones, providing relief to the people of Dedigama as well as increasing the fixed assets in 2018 by 31.94% by the year 2021.
Since 2018, he has carried out a large number of specialized projects.Among them are renovation of the chamber, afforestation of Theliella, development of roads and buildings and drainage systems, repair of Primix yard, maintenance of weekly fairs, purchase of library books, renovation of Mainnoluwa library, purchase of office equipment, construction of new office building and repayment of loans, Computer software and computer equipment and other capital expenditure, maintenance of public toilets, maintenance of crematoriums, construction of health center, loan repayment, renovation of church halls, land acquisition, land recycling compost project.
In addition, special projects carried out include the opening of the Wariyagoda Sathi Pola, the construction of a digital billboard, the construction of a toilet at the Dedigama Ayurveda, the construction of a Hela canteen at the Warakapola Sathi Pola premises, the construction of a Hela canteen on the land owned by the Mainnoluwa Council, and the development of the upper floor of the Dedigama Pre-School building. Projects include construction of stalls at the new Sathi Pola site, construction of a children's park near the Sathi Pola site and construction of a walking lane.
Institutionally, the construction of a new office building, the installation of air conditioners for a new office building, the collection of revenue through inspectors using new software using field revenue collection machines in addition to traditional tax collection, Measures can be taken to prevent paper wastage by requesting goods, approving requested goods and issuing goods from the warehouse and maintaining inventory, using new software instead of requesting goods for office bearers, and to find documents in the office using new software in the archives. Can be pointed out as the result of the effort made to achieve the highest benefits of modern technology.
